EARTH STARCH’S “ROSIE” RAPID ORGANIC WASTE PROCESSING KĀPITI TRIAL
In March 2020 the Kāpiti Coast District Council funded a proof-of-concept trial of Earth Starch’s “ROSIE” rapid enzyme accelerated organic waste treatment system via our Waste Levy Grants process.
ROSIE diverted 1.4t of residential and commercial organic waste streams over a set 8-week monitored trial. Processing continued beyond the 8-week trial and achieved waste diversion through to the end of 2022.
Throughout the trial there were no environmental monitoring concerns e.g. odour, leachate etc. as everything was quickly processed, well managed and is an in-vessel system.
We are currently looking at funding options to establish a full-scale system in the future as part of a resource recovery park.
